Development of New Management Plan for Cameron Preserve
The CPMP Project is the T&GC effort to develop a new comprehensive management plan for the Richard E. Cameron and Volunteers Wilderness Preserve in the Town of Malabar. The Town of Malabar is responsible for managing this 100-acre preserve that is owned by the State of Florida, under the Florida Communities Trust. This project is intended to bring the management plan up-to-date, through an emphasis on balancing objectives of habitat preservation and passive recreation. The T&GC recognizes that the success of the US National Park System was due not just to the preservation of lands but also was, and continues to be, based on preserving public access to those lands. Accordingly, the T&GC is building a new management plan that solicits ongoing public support by incorporating key access amenities to real Florida wildlife habitat without compromising diversity of species or habitat quality.
